GEORGE DILLON WORKSHOPS

In 1990, while appearing with Steven Berkoff in Salomé at the National theatre, George Dillon was asked by the NT Education Department to give workshops on Berkoff’s Metamorphosis.  As an experienced classroom teacher, having had two years' experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language, George welcomed the challenge and has now led over 200 workshops with students, professional performers and business groups both in the U.K. and abroad.

Based upon his practices as a performer, writer, director, teacher and martial artist (he has trained in Kendő for 22 years) George Dillon’s workshops are intense, enjoyable and stimulating and are designed to give students a taste of working with and an insight into the thoughts and practices of a professional theatre-maker.

George regards students (of whatever age) not just as exam fodder, but as developing creative artists and his main aim is always to allow the participants to make their own discoveries - to give them not only some immediately applicable performance skills but also a stimulus to continue experimenting on their own creative path.

Regular 3 hour workshop topics include 'Berkoff & Physical Theatre', 'Practical Artaud’, 'Making Solo Work’, 'Devising & Scripting' & 'Playing with Shakespeare', but workshops can also be tailored to request (but NO Stanislavski requests please!)
