FLUID TABLE METHODS ON TEST

The 2000 px wide cell method
(and why it doesn't work)

Below are some tables which use the often recommended method of setting a 'fluid' cell to some very large pixel value. However Opera (v 3.51 for PC at least) will interpret this value literally, resulting in a very wide table (and page) and horizontal scrollbars, so all of the tables below fail with Opera. THE "100 & 2000px " METHOD version 1
This cell has no word with more than 4 ltrs. Table="100%"

THE "100 & 2000px " METHOD version 2
This cell has no word with more than 4 ltrs. Table="100%"
1st Row="100" & notset

THE "100 & 2000px " METHOD version 3
This cell has no word with more than 4 ltrs. Table="100%"
1st Row=notset & notset

THE "100 & 2000px " METHOD version 4
  fails in Netscape 4.7 (left cell too wide)
